At Silverphonic SoundLab, we believe that the heart of every single story is human beings communicating with other human beings.

We stand in solidarity with recent rulings made by SOCAN, ASCAP, and BMI, stating that, even as we develop new tools, human creativity must remain at the core of artistic expression.  But, we also enjoy exploring and being inspired by new technologies, especially ones that can offer new approaches to human expression.  We firmly believe in ethical creation.

Because of this, we'd like to offer full disclosure into how we may incorporate AI tools into our workflow.

We never represent completely AI generated works as our own creations.
We never utilize tools or services that could present legal issues for us or our clients.

We may use AI for some of the non-creative aspects of mixing and mastering.  We may use AI based systems to analyze audio and flag conflicting frequencies.  We may use AI based systems to ensure that the files we deliver match appropriate dynamic ranges and loudness levels for their genre and intended medium.

We may use AI to generate specific source elements to use within our original creations.  This could be a straight forward as generating a drum loop to use in an original hip-hop track, or as abstract as creating strange new sounds to be used as wavetables in synthesizers.  But we only do this as it serves our original creations.  We may even use AI to tweak our own performances.  This could be as simple as cleaning up a vocal track, or as complex as turning an original vocal performance into a trumpet part.  But we only do this as it serves our own human artistic vision.

We LOVE making music.  We love every aspect of building it from the ground up.  We love conceiving of it, writing it, playing it, recording it, and tweaking it.  We love shaping it to fit our needs and the needs of our clients.  Every stage of the creative process contributes to giving each piece of music a unique character, and we have no interest in sacrificing this.  It's the part of the process we like the most.  It's why we got in to this game.

We like exploring and being inspired by new tools for creation, but never at the expense of losing the very thing that's at the core of the creative process - a human being sharing a story with another human being.
