Telling stories with sound
Joel S. Silver is a Toronto based composer, producer, and Immersive Experience designer.
Originally a pianist and percussionist, Joel attended York University, where his focus shifted to Electronic Composition and South Indian Rhythmic Theory. However, it was when his friends in the film, theatre, and dance departments started asking him to score their projects that he found his true passion.
Since then, Joel has created music for hundreds of tv shows, films, commercials, dance pieces, installation art works, and live performances. Whether it is brooding soundscapes, hybrid orchestral scores, driving EDM, classic animation, experimental synth atmospheres, or quirky hip-hop, Joel excels at understanding character and plot, and creating the right music to support your story. His clients have included BBC, CBC, Channel 4 (UK), Discovery, National Geographic, Yamaha Canada Music Ltd., Much Music, SexTV, TLC, Netflix, Travel, W Network, and others. He was part of the team that brought music to The Voice, Queer Eye, The Real Housewives franchises, Pawn Stars, Saturday Night Live, and many more popular programs.
In recent years, Joel has branched out into creating Immersive Experiences (Escape Rooms and XR), as well as building custom code and unique software environments for creative applications.
